Two Expats Left ‘Speechless’ Splitting AED 1 Million From Mahzooz

Two lucky winners took home AED 500,000 each in the 14th live weekly Mahzooz draw. Both Dubai-based expats, one Syrian and one Indian, matched five out of six numbers to split the AED 1,000,000 second prize.

42-year old Tarek from Syria is a regular Mahzooz participant and usually watches the weekly live draw. This Saturday, he missed it but luck didn’t miss him.

“We had a family dinner so I missed watching the live draw. I logged onto the Mahzooz website to check the numbers and I noticed my balance was full,” said Tarek, a married father of two. “I quickly checked my email to confirm and saw the communication from Mahzooz. I started jumping up and down in happiness, then ran over and woke up my wife, just to make sure it was real.”

As an entrepreneur and small business owner, Tarek has weathered plenty of storms during the Covid-19 pandemic. As luck would have it, he happened to be weathering one of his biggest yet when his numbers came in.

“The last little while I’ve been under a lot of pressure,” recalled Tarek. “With Covid-19, work issues have been piling up and the pressure was starting to weigh on me, then all of a sudden this happens. The emotions just can’t be explained. I’m still speechless.”

With his new found winnings, Tarek is looking forward to taking care of both his family and others around him.

“I want to make sure that my family, including my brothers and sisters, are taken care of. After that, I plan on helping other people in need,” said Tarek. “Sharing is the most important part of this. You are blessed that you won but sharing with your family and others, that is the true blessing.”

As for his very first purchase? Tarek did not hesitate.“Another ticket from Mahzooz!”

Mohammad, a 37-year old IT professional, also usually watches the Mahzooz weekly live draw but happened to be getting a PCR test at the time in preparation for a trip home to India.

“I wasn’t able to watch the live draw due to the test but I got a call from my sister at 1:30am,” recalled Mohammad. “She told me my numbers hit and I couldn’t believe it. I thought she was joking but when I realized she wasn’t, I was speechless. The credit goes to my sister as she chose the numbers, she’s my lucky charm.”

As a husband and father, Mohammad cares deeply about his family and this luck could not have come at a better time.

“For my family, these winnings will make a huge difference,” said the Indian expat. “My extended family sadly lost two people due to Covid-19 and this money will take care of their kids and cover their education.”

Mohammad knows as well as anyone that luck can strike anyone when participating with Mahzooz.

“I always believe that anything can happen and I walk around with a gut feeling that today could be my lucky day,”

“Miracles can happen in everyone’s life but fortune favours the brave and the hard working,” concluded Mohammad.

For those who missed out on last week’s live draw, entrants can participate in Mahzooz by registering via www.mahzooz.ae and purchasing Al Emarat bottles of water. Each bottle of water purchased (for AED 35) provides eligibility for one line in the draw and the donation is channelled through Mahzooz’s community partners to hydrate those in need.

The next draw will be held as scheduled on Saturday 6 March 2021 at 9:00pm UAE time. Mahzooz is inclusive to all who are eligible.
