Two Culinary Giants Come Together For A Memorable Four-Hands Dinner: Jun’s x Shams El Balad
Jun’s, the innovative restaurant known for pushing culinary boundaries, is set to host an exclusive four-hands dinner promising an unforgettable evening of unique flavours and cultural storytelling. Chef Kelvin Cheung of Jun’s will collaborate with his good friend, Chef Qais Malhas of Shams El Balad, to offer a truly exceptional dining experience.
Caught between cultures, Jun’s celebrates the unique perspective and creativity that comes from straddling multiple cultural worlds.Since its opening, the award-winning restaurant has garnered a reputation for innovation, and now, paired with Shams El Balad – MENA 50 Best’s number one restaurant in Jordan and 8th overall on the list – the culinary affair is set to be nothing short of extraordinary.
The dinner will take place on Monday, 24th February, with seatings at 6:30pm and 9pm, offering guests the opportunity to witness the reunion of two chefs who share a passion for food and a deep connection to their roots. Having previously worked together at the Jordan Food Festival, the duo are excited to bring their energy and creativity to Dubai, exploring each other’s culinary journeys while sharing stories inspired by their diverse cultural backgrounds. Chef Qais’ Palestinian-Jordanian heritage and Chef Kelvin’s Chinese-Canadian upbringing will form the foundation for a menu that blends traditional flavours with contemporary twists.
For AED 495 per person (food only), the curated tasting experience begins with delicate Oysters, a light and refreshing start,followed by bold and aromatic Lobster. The journey continues with the vibrant Watermelon, offering a crisp and cooling contrast before moving into the savoury depth ofKofta. This is then followed by the earthy Foul, a dish that brings a grounding warmth, preparing the palate for the indulgent Scallop, which strikes a perfect balance between umami and spice. Next, guests can indulge in the luxurious Short Rib, a hearty and rich course that offers a satisfying end to the savoury offerings. Accompanying these dishes are a series of sides, each bringing a unique layer of flavour, from the bright and tangy to the smoky and spicy. To conclude, guests will be treated to a refreshing Sagodessert, followed by a selection of Petit Fours, offering a sweet and indulgent finish to the evening.
