Public Are Invited To Enjoy The Breathtaking Kinetic Sculpture From The National Day Celebration With An Updated Experience

A kinetic art experience that formed the centerpiece of the UAE’s official 49^th National Day celebrations will be transformed into an art installation named ‘The Seed’at Jubail Island for the public to enjoy from December 14 – January 30.

The imposing, cube-shaped moving sculpture was streamed live on TV and online to millions of people December 2 as part of the ‘Seeds of the Union’ show.

Now the Organising Committee of the Official 49^th UAE National Day celebrations has announced the public will have the chance to see the masterpiece closely as it remains at the site until January 30, 2021. Guests will experience a unique moving art piece with stunning visuals that represent an evolution from seed, shoot, flower to propagation.

From December 14, people will be able to buy tickets for AED30 for those aged 18 years and above, and AED15 for children aged 7 – 17,to visit the site and enjoy a spectacular display of light, art and music amid Jubail Island’s majestic mangrove forests.

A newly created beach area, which looks out onto the stunning sculpture, will safely seat up to 400 people in a relaxed setting.All of the money from the tickets will be used to fund a conservation programme in the mangroves.

Khalfan Al Mazrouei, member of the Organising Committee of the Official 49^th UAE National Day celebrations , said: “The Seed is not a re-run of the 49^th National Day show we saw on December 2, it is a special experience everyone can enjoy.

“In the typical spirit of togetherness and unity of the UAE, we want people to have the opportunity to appreciate in person this unique moving art piece with stunning visual content.”

The kinetic illuminated sculpture has been devised by the world-renowned creative director Es Devlin in collaboration with a team of Emirati creatives.

The site will open at 5.00pm each day – every day except Sundays – to allow people to take their seats before sunset. The audio-visual experience will play continuously between 6pm and 8pm, while refreshments will be served from on-site food trucks.

In line with the UAE’s Covid-19 policies, all seating will be socially-distanced and all necessary precautionary and preventive measures have been put in place.
