Montegrappa Releases Limited Edition Pens Inspired By Gibran Khalil Gibran To Coincide With The Opening Of ‘BROKEN WINGS’ At Dubai Opera

Montegrappa has partnered with Dubai Opera and Broadway Entertainment Group in anticipation of the Dubai debut of the stage adaptation of Gibran Khalil Gibran’s admired poetic novel ‘BROKEN WINGS’.

Gibran Khalil Gibran, the globally renowned author of acclaimed works such as ‘The Prophet’, ‘The Madman’, ‘Sand and Foam’ and ‘A Tear and a Smile’, was born in Lebanon on 6 January 1883. ‘BROKEN WINGS’, the West End hit musical based on Gibran’s 1912 autobiographical tale of the same name will debut at Dubai Opera on 17 January 2020. Written by Middle East duo Nadim Naaman and Dana Alfardan, directed by Bronagh Lagan and produced by Ali Matar, with orchestrations by Joe Davison, the production was also a huge success at the Beiteddine festival in Lebanon.

Set to launch in Dubai with three performances taking place at Dubai Opera between 17 and 18 January 2020, ‘BROKEN WINGS’ is a stunning piece of contemporary music written to showcase the richness of Arabic literature and philosophy, allowing international and regional audiences, access to the complexity and beauty of Middle Eastern art and performance.

Montegrappa has joined together various elements of Gibran’s delicate work with the visual foundations of his paintings to translate them into an exclusive pen design. Bringing together some of Gibran’s most iconic paintings, Montegrappa has molded the pen into a beautiful writing instrument combining unique elements including 3D figures offered in either solid 18K gold or sterling silver embellishing.

The cap and barrel of the pen are testimonies to the superlative goldsmith techniques of Montegrappa’s craftsmen. The nib is made of the traditional choice, 18K gold, further enhanced by the Gibran’s stylised image and the Montegrappa logo. The signature clip shows the same hand ornament as the First Edition Khalil Gibran pen, as is the cap top, marked by the poet’s symbol.  Part of the proceeds from sales of the pen will be donated to the Gibran National Committee, which was established in Bsharreh, Lebanon, to protect and continue the Gibran Khalil Gibran legacy.

“We are exceptionally honoured to be partnering with the incredible West End production BROKEN WINGS to celebrate the unique collection of Gibran Limited Edition Pens”, said Charles Nahhas, Middle East Distributor of Montegrappa. “The idea behind the making and design of the pens was to create the perfect aesthetic in the collection, in which we have used Gibran’s visual language to incorporate elements of two famous late-19th Century art movements, Aestheticism and Symbolism using a solid silver or gold lattice.”

To coincide with the opening of the stage production of ‘BROKEN WINGS’ during the month of January 2020, to celebrate the birth month of Gibran Khalil Gibran, Montegrappa is offering a special 25 per cent off the Gibran Khalil Gibran collection which celebrates the life and work of the acclaimed author. The Gibran collection was made by Montegrappa under license from the Gibran National Committee, thereby supporting and protecting his legacy through this project and ongoing support for Gibran related activities worldwide.
