Kibsons – Helping The UAE’s SME Community Thrive

As we know, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Dubai’s economy, representing 95% of all establishments in the Emirate. These SME businesses account for 42% of the workforce and contribute around 40% to the total value add generated in Dubai’s economy.
For those in the retail sector, what many don’t appreciate is how prohibitive securing shelf space with retailers can be, with shelf space and listing fee amounting to +500k – millions before a brand has even sold a single product.
Kibsons, the UAE’s homegrown e-commerce grocery store, has been supporting and enabling the SME community since its start – offering a risk free entry to market, with no listing or marketing fees, stock bought upfront and more added support.  In Covid, they gave many small local brands a platform to sell on, helping them survive this time.
There are 1000s of examples, but many well known Dubai companies started on Kibsons and have gone on to brilliant things including:
  • Koita
  • Essentially
  • Camel Soap
  • Play
  • Lizzom
Kibsons CEO Halima Jumani, is extremely passionate about supporting the SME community and would love to share her thoughts here, along with commentary from any of her SME brand partners of needed, and why she want other retailers to do more too.
