7th Emirates Physiotherapy Virtual Conference
The 7th ‘Biennial Emirates Physiotherapy Virtual Conference 2020 will run from 12 – 13th June 2020. The Physiotherapy profession continuously strives towards providing the best practices both for diagnosis and best available treatments in order to achieve the most effective outcomes. There is an enormous amount of research constantly being conducted in the field of physiotherapy that is aiming to provide and deliver the latest evidence-based practices so that patients receive the utmost and valuable form of care and successful results.
Naima Saleh, Chairperson of Scientific Committee, Emirates Physiotherapy Society, said “The Emirates Physiotherapy Society (EPS) has adopted the policy of providing advancement in the field of physiotherapy by organizing Emirates Physiotherapy Conference since 2006. Despite the Covid-19 crises, EPS has found it is both important and critical in proceeding with the Virtual Physio UAE 2020 conference to provide the latest and cutting-edge research as a way to evolve and stimulate knowledge based scientific conversation via inviting key figures in the profession. The Virtual Physio UAE 2020 conference has been structured and put in place to offer opportunities to physiotherapists as well as other health care professionals to attend and connect with renowned speakers in the field musculoskeletal and sport physiotherapy. The keynote speakers are from Australia, Belgium, Denmark, South Africa, US and UK.
She further added: “The conference will expand the knowledge of physiotherapists on Patellofemoral pain (knee pain) as well as developing understanding of how adolescents differ from adults and how often they require unique management. The strategies of optimal loading in ankle rehabilitation and evidence in management of planter fasciitis will be presented. In addition, various perspectives in back pain management will be addressed by three renowned keynotes speakers in this field; including matching management with pain mechanism. The conference will also address updated research in the neuroscience of pain management.”
The focal point of the conference this year will be regarding research on musculoskeletal conditions, sport injuries and concussions. The conference will bring physiotherapists attention to their role centred on the interdisciplinary care of concussion, understanding the spectrum of concussions and differentiating between concussion, neck injuries and cervicogenic headache.
Key highlights of this year’s conference:A total of 50 abstracts for oral presentation were received, of which 15 abstracts are accepted and will be presented in the conference virtual platform while 25 poster will be in the virtual exhibition. In concurrence with the Virtual Physio UAE 2020, a pre-conference workshop on patellofemoral pain and post conference workshop on assessment, rehabilitation and prevention of ankle injuries will also be conducted.
The live online conference will have the same content as the in-person version and is 12.5 CME accredited by Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHap). Same agenda will be maintained, involving the same course topics taught on each day as originally planned, with minor adjustments to the schedule. Participants will also have the luxury to get full access to recordings of every session even after the conference.
